David Sklar, C.A., CIRP - President.

Immigrating to Canada from South Africa in 1979 gave David a true appreciation of what starting over is all about. By 1981 he had earned his Canadian Chartered Accountant designation (he had previously earned a similar designation in South Africa) and later began working in the Insolvency Field where he discovered his personal satisfaction in helping people through financially troubling times and onto a better life.

In 1997, David formed David Sklar & Associates Inc. a caring, professional firm that helps people deal with their financial problems and insolvency issues through a wide range of exceptional services. Over the years, David Sklar & Associates has grown to include six Greater Toronto Area Locations and is one of the largest filers of Consumer Proposals and Bankruptcies in the GTA.

David is currently a member of the Canadian Institute of Chartered Accountants and the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Ontario. He is also a Licensed Credit Counsellor, has earned the CIRP designation (Chartered Insolvency and Restructuring Professional) and is a general member of the Ontario Association of Restructuring Professionals.

Marva M. Brooks, CIRP – Trustee.

Active in Insolvencies since 1985, Marva earned her Chartered Insolvency and Restructuring Professional license in 1992. Her wide range of personal and professional experiences enables her to understand and relate to people from all walks of life. Marva puts her clients at ease – and back in control of their financial lives. She uses her vast experience in both Consumer and Corporate Trustee issues to bring about the best possible outcome for her clients. A true optimist at heart, Marva empowers her clients to see that their glass is half-full and not half-empty.

Karol Michrowski, C.G.A, CIRP – Trustee

Karol has been a licensed Chartered Insolvency and Restructuring Professional since 2002. His rich and varied life experiences have taught him to have a true empathy for others. Using his keen affinity for numbers and his knowledge and experience as a trustee, Karol is able to clarify complex financial situations and help people make the best use of the insolvency laws. Fluent in both English and Polish, his caring, helpful nature shines through. According to Karol, "It pleases me no end when I see someone's life turn around right in front of my eyes".

Gloria Breen, CIRP – Trustee.

In 1988, as a receptionist at an insolvency firm, Gloria realized that helping people in financial distress was the career she wanted. By 2002, she had earned her Chartered Insolvency and Restructuring Professional license. Gloria enjoys working with people from all walks of life and treats her clients and co-workers with dignity, caring and respect. Her years of experience enable her to listen to her clients, create a solution that fits their needs, give them the tools for a better financial future, and most importantly - show them that there is hope.

Rhoda Lewis, Estate Administrator.

Rhoda joined David Sklar & Associates in 1999 and quickly discovered her passion for helping people learn to deal with financial stress. After achieving her Certified Insolvency Counsellor designation in 2000, Rhoda began using her strong inter-personal and financial skills to help her clients. By the end of their Initial meeting, Rhoda’s clients are relieved to know that they can once again be responsible for their own financial stability and they are eager to move forward. 

Jason (Jay) Sklar, Estate Administrator.

Being a Certified Insolvency Counsellor and a Certified Insolvency Administrator – Jay offers his clients the power of his knowledge, his years of experience and his genuine concern for his clients and the life challenges they are facing. He helps his clients feel hopeful again, teaches them how to manage their finances, and provides them with the tools that enable them to move on with confidence.

Cori Naron, Estate Administrator.

As a Certified Insolvency Counsellor, an Immigrant to Canada, and someone who has successfully built her own life on her own terms - Cori applies her knowledge, natural empathy, and strong listening skills to the benefit of her clients. Active in a number of community organizations, she believes in people – and treats everyone with dignity and respect. Cori shows her clients that getting their finances in order is the first step towards a better life.

Richard Sklar B.A (Hons.), Marketing & Sales Manager, Estate Administrator.

After years of helping clients with his strong inter-personal skills and expertise in the insolvency field – Richard has taken on the additional task of helping those Toronto Area residents who are in need of debt management support find their solutions at David Sklar & Associates. Richard knows that debt resolution is not the end - it is a new beginning - a fresh start for a brighter financial life.

Shirley Sklar, Office Manager, Estate Administrator.

With years of experience as a Certified Insolvency Counsellor, and life experiences that have made her empathetic to people experiencing debt problems – Shirley helps her clients understand that everyone makes mistakes – but the secret to success is to learn from our mistakes and move on. Shirley helps people to help themselves – to take responsibility for their life choices and to know that with the right attitude and good work ethics – anything is possible.

Debbie Wallace, Senior Estate Manager.

As a Certified Insolvency Counsellor and Administrator, with 17 years of proven success, Debbie works extensively in Bankruptcy discharges and Division I Proposals. Specializing in complex insolvency issues, she frequently attends Superior Court for discharge hearings and helps her clients to successfully find their way through the Bankruptcy and Proposal processes. Debbie’s knowledge, experience and positive outlook – are a source of strength and reassurance for her clients.

Ilana Kieffer, Manager Tax Department.

Since 1998, Ilana has excelled at helping people in the Proposal and Bankruptcy processes deal successfully with their taxes problems. A consummate Professional, Ilana combines her exceptional ability to resolve complex tax issues with her desire to help people. Not content to simply fix an existing tax problem, Ilana is happiest when her clients have learned and adopted a workable plan for looking after their taxes and finances in the future.

Dianna Wilton, Manager Proposal Department.

With extensive experience in the financial industry, specializing in Division I and Consumer Proposals, Dianna is committed to finding the best solutions for her clients’ needs. By applying her strong problem solving skills and naturally optimistic nature, she has helped hundreds of people to move on to brighter futures. Veronica Horta B.A (Hons.), Estate Administrator

As a Certified Insolvency Counsellor who is fluent in Spanish, Portuguese, and English - Veronica is able to use her unique cultural and life experiences to help people take control of their finances, and regain their sense of worth.
