The Bankruptcy and Insolvency Act (under which David Sklar & Associates is licensed) requires that individuals who have filed a Division I or Consumer Proposal or who have filed for Bankruptcy - attend two Credit Counselling sessions. These Credit Counselling sessions are seen as an opportunity to give the people who are in the Bankruptcy or Proposal process, the tools to help them better deal with credit and debt in the future.

At David Sklar & Associates we recognise that Credit Counselling needs vary greatly from one client to another. For that reason, we tailor our counselling sessions to meet the individual’s needs. Our Counsellors are serious about helping our clients to build a better life.

For some of our clients, the counselling may focus on debt management and budgeting. Other counselling can include:

  • how best to use credit,
  • how to rebuild a credit rating,
  • how to identify and achieve financial goals, and
  • how to deal with having to start over.

Where our clients have expressed concern over issues in their lives that have contributed to their financial problems, such as compulsive shopping, gambling, addiction, etc – our Counsellors will help refer them to the proper support agencies.

Our goal is to help our clients through their current financial problems and onto a better future. Helping our clients solve their financial issues and providing them with the tools for a more successful financial life, is what we are all about.
